The completion of UF Health Durbin Park, a significant health and wellness campus in St. Johns County, Florida, marks a substantial expansion of medical services in Northeast Florida. Spanning 42.5 acres, this development is a key component in improving healthcare access for the burgeoning populations of St. Johns County and Jacksonville.
The first phase of this ambitious project includes a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building and a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital, both strategically located within the rapidly developing Durbin Park community. Stellar, serving as the primary construction manager, collaborated with Gresham Smith on the design to realize this healthcare hub.
UF Health Durbin Park Medical Office Building 1 integrates a wide range of specialty services under one roof, offering general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, laboratory services, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and urology. Meanwhile, the adjacent UF Health Durbin Park Hospital enhances the community’s medical infrastructure with 99 inpatient beds, a 24-hour emergency department, and facilities for acute and intensive care, including advanced imaging and hybrid laboratories for interventional procedures. Stellar’s project management efforts were bolstered through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction.
Additionally, Stellar managed the construction of a standalone central energy plant to provide vital infrastructure support to the sprawling campus. This development is a part of a broader $1 billion investment from UF Health Durbin Park, which is anticipated to generate around 2,000 jobs, further boosting the local economy.
